Sell Bitcoin for HKD in Hong Kong

To sell Bitcoin (BTC) for HKD cash in Hong Kong, check a VBIT store’s displayed rate or enquire through our official WhatsApp. This page explains how customers send BTC and receive HKD at a physical store, with information on miner fees, blockchain confirmation, identity checks and the addresses and hours of our four stores.

Sell Bitcoin at a Store

VBIT offers Bitcoin (BTC) buying and selling for HKD cash. This page is for customers who already hold BTC and wish to sell it for HKD cash at a physical OTC store in Hong Kong. HKD is settled in cash at the store only; bank and electronic transfers are not available for settlement.

Before selling, provide the BTC quantity and your preferred store to request a selling quote. For a large sale, read Booking a Large BTC Trade, then use our official contact channels to arrange a quote and cash settlement. Related services include BTC to HKD Service and Large OTC Service.

Buying and selling have opposite directions. Here, you send BTC and receive HKD cash. If you wish to pay HKD cash to buy BTC, read the Hong Kong Bitcoin Buying Guide.

BTC Selling Quotes and Transfer Fees

Check a store’s displayed rate or contact our official WhatsApp for current selling information. Specify that you wish to sell BTC for HKD and provide the quantity so the trade amount can be checked. Bitcoin prices change; an earlier quote is not a fixed exchange ratio.

Blockchain miner fees are paid by the sender. When selling BTC, you are the sender and need to account for this network cost. Miner fees are separate from any spread or service fee in an OTC quote, so comparing one exchange-rate figure alone is not sufficient.

Quote Checklist before Selling BTC
ItemBTC Selling Quotes and Fees Explained
Selling Quote and HKD ReceivedThe quote covers the BTC quantity being sold and the HKD cash to be received. Compare the amount and exchange rate with the trade record at settlement.
Comparing QuotesCompare the final HKD received for the same BTC quantity. Understand miner fees and platform withdrawal fees separately from the store’s quote.
Blockchain Miner FeeThe party sending BTC pays the blockchain miner fee. Before transferring, check the sending quantity, network fee and total deduction shown in your wallet.
Platform Withdrawal FeeIf withdrawing from a platform, check its own fees and deduction method. Distinguish the withdrawal quantity requested from the BTC actually received, and keep platform fees separate from the store’s quote.

Use the Official Quote Enquiry Page, or contact us directly through WhatsApp:+852 6770 9992 for a selling quote. Check the final HKD to be received and applicable costs before transferring.

Before Sending BTC: Network, Address and Confirmation

Check BTC as the asset, the store’s receiving address for this trade, the matching network and the quantity before confirming the transfer in your wallet or platform. Check the full address, not just its first and last characters, and recheck the current receiving details even if you have traded before.

Selling includes waiting for blockchain confirmation, checking the trade record and settling in cash. Distinguish these three states:

  • Wallet or platform shows Sent: This is the sending side’s processing status. That screen alone does not establish that the store has finished receiving the BTC.
  • Transaction confirmed on the blockchain: Use the TXID in a blockchain explorer to view the transaction record, receiving address, quantity and confirmation status.
  • Store completes settlement checks: Following the selling procedure, compare BTC received, the HKD amount and exchange rate with the trade record, then collect cash.

Blockchain confirmation requires network processing. Sent does not mean cash settlement is complete. Keep the TXID and withdrawal record to check progress with the store; settlement depends on blockchain confirmation and the store’s checks.

Identity and Asset Checks: What Should I Prepare?

Identification

VBIT’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Terms require accurate, up-to-date identification before using the service and reserve the right to make reasonable verification enquiries. Cash settlement also requires identity checks; contact the store before visiting about submitting documents. You can also read About VBIT and Our Stores.

Asset and Trade Details

After sending BTC, keep a transaction record showing the currency, quantity, receiving address and TXID to check that this BTC went to the store’s address for the trade. These are transfer details; private keys and recovery phrases control the wallet and should remain with you, not be given to others as proof of a trade.

Six Steps to Sell BTC at a Hong Kong Store

  1. Choose the asset to sell: Specify Bitcoin (BTC), the quantity to sell and your preferred store.
  2. Check the selling quote: View the store rate or enquire through WhatsApp. Check the HKD amount and costs, and prepare your details for identity verification.
  3. Send BTC: Check the asset, network and full store receiving address, then initiate the transfer from your wallet or platform.
  4. Wait for blockchain confirmation: Keep the TXID and view the blockchain record so both parties can check receipt of BTC.
  5. Check the trade record: Compare the amount and exchange rate with the quote agreed for this trade, the BTC quantity and the trade record.
  6. Collect HKD cash: Complete settlement at the store, count the cash in person and keep your trade record.

For the full procedure, see Selling and Cashing Out Assets. Buying BTC reverses the direction of the assets; see the Guide to Buying BTC with HKD Cash.

Use Official Contact Channels and Watch for Impersonation

VBIT’s Important Announcement states that trades take place only at physical OTC stores and that there is no online exchange platform. WhatsApp and WeChat are for customer contact, quotes and store arrangements; they do not mean exchanging assets on advertising websites or unfamiliar apps.

If you encounter exchange advertisements, download links or receiving details claiming to be from VBIT, verify them through the official contacts on this page first. Recheck the full address before transferring. Confirmed BTC blockchain transactions are usually irreversible; do not rely on cancelling later to correct a mistake.

Selling Bitcoin for HKD: Common Questions

Can I sell BTC for HKD at VBIT?

Yes. VBIT offers Bitcoin buying and selling for HKD cash. After sending BTC, complete blockchain confirmation and trade-record checks, then collect HKD cash at a physical store.

Who pays the miner fee when selling BTC?

The sender of BTC pays the blockchain miner fee. When selling BTC, you are the sender, so check the fee shown in your wallet before transferring. If withdrawing from a platform, also check its own fees and deduction method.

Where can I ask for a BTC selling quote?

View a store’s rate or contact our official WhatsApp on +852 6770 9992. Specify the quantity and preferred store, and check the HKD you will receive and the costs for this trade.

Can I collect HKD immediately after BTC is sent?

Sent in a wallet or platform does not mean the store has completed its receiving checks. Selling includes waiting for blockchain confirmation, checking the amount and exchange rate, then collecting cash. Use your TXID to check progress with the store.

How can I check the status of a BTC transfer?

Keep the TXID and use a blockchain explorer to check the transaction record, receiving address, quantity and confirmations. The blockchain status and the store’s cash settlement are separate parts of the process and should be checked separately.

Do I need identification or asset details to sell BTC?

VBIT’s AML terms require accurate, up-to-date identification before using the service. Transfer records help check where the BTC went; do not give others your wallet’s private keys or recovery phrase.

Can I cash out BTC through an online exchange platform?

VBIT’s important announcement states that trades take place only at physical OTC stores and that it has no online exchange platform. Official WhatsApp and WeChat provide contact; HKD cash is still settled at the store.

Can I receive the HKD in a bank account?

No. VBIT settles HKD in cash at its stores only. Confirm your store, visiting time and cash arrangements before visiting.
