Stablecoin supply, volume and flows measure different things
Analysis often uses USDT and USDC supply and trading activity to assess crypto markets. Circulating supply reflects issuance and redemption; volume measures trading over a period; platform or wallet flows concern transfers between particular addresses.
More supply does not mean an equal amount of buying
Stablecoins may be used for trading, payments, transfers or temporary holdings. The same tokens may change hands repeatedly, so volume cannot be treated directly as new money. Higher supply or inflows alone do not establish that Bitcoin or another asset is about to rise.
Check definitions before comparing data
Check the date, assets and networks covered, whether figures are net amounts and the source. Some data cover only certain platforms or addresses and cannot directly represent the whole market.
A dollar peg does not mean no risk
Stablecoins still involve issuer, reserve, liquidity and wallet-operation risks. Different stablecoins are not one interchangeable asset. Distinguish the token and transfer network. For the basics, see USDT uses, buying and cash-out differences.
Distinguish market indicators from store services
USDT and USDC are different assets. Token lists in market reports do not establish which assets a business accepts. If you hold USDT and need HKD cash in Hong Kong, see the USDT Cash Out. VBIT does not sell USDT to customers.
