Cashing out Bitcoin reverses the direction of buying it: you send BTC and receive HKD cash. VBIT provides this service at its physical Hong Kong stores, so the asset transfer and cash handover can be discussed face to face.
Start with your actual Bitcoin balance
Identify the BTC you intend to sell and check that you can authorise a transfer from your own wallet or account. Check the recipient details and network before sending; a token with a similar name on another network is not automatically the same transfer.
The in-store selling process
- Ask for a quote and agree the BTC quantity and HKD amount.
- Verify the receiving address provided for the transaction.
- Send the agreed BTC and keep its transaction reference.
- Wait for blockchain confirmation, then reconcile the receipt and amounts with the staff.
- Count the HKD cash and retain the transaction documents.
A receipt and an on-chain record serve different purposes
The blockchain record identifies the transfer. The store receipt records the cash transaction details. Keep both so you can reconcile the quantity sold and cash received. A transfer reference alone does not establish that all cash handover details are correct.
Cash settlement does not eliminate risk
Wallet errors, impersonation, asset-price movements and counterparty risks still require attention. Do not send assets to a person claiming to represent the store unless the details have been verified through the official transaction channel. See the Bitcoin cash-out service for the relevant store process.
