Buying Bitcoin means paying for BTC and receiving it into a wallet you control. At a physical OTC store, the practical steps are to agree the transaction details, pay HKD cash and check the Bitcoin transfer. A face-to-face setting lets you discuss these steps directly, but does not remove price, fraud or wallet risks.
Know which direction you are trading
For a Bitcoin purchase, you pay HKD cash and receive BTC. This differs from cashing out, when you send cryptocurrency and receive cash. VBIT offers Bitcoin buying and selling at its Hong Kong stores; USDT is available for cash out only.
Prepare your receiving wallet
Obtain a receiving address from your own Bitcoin wallet. Check that the asset and network match the transfer being arranged. Never assume that an address for a different token or network can receive native Bitcoin. Keep control of your wallet and its recovery information.
What happens at the store
- Request a quote through the official contact channel or view the store quote, then agree the BTC quantity and HKD amount.
- Pay the agreed HKD cash at the store.
- Show your receiving address and verify it with the staff before the transfer.
- Check the receipt against the transaction amount and address.
- Use your wallet or a blockchain explorer to check the transfer and its confirmations.
Compare the transaction, not a guarantee
Price movements, network conditions and mistakes in recipient details remain relevant. A cash purchase does not guarantee protection from account reviews, scams or asset loss. Keep the receipt and transfer reference, and use the actual quantity received and cash paid when comparing quotes. See the Bitcoin buying service for the store transaction process.
